About Us

Along the gentle bends of the River Blyth lie the quiet parishes of rural Suffolk — places shaped by agriculture, community, and the steady rhythm of village life. Yet from these small settlements came a generation who marched into the vast machinery of the First World War. Some returned changed. Many did not return at all.

Fallen of the Blyth is a growing digital memorial and research project, dedicated to recording every individual from this river valley who lost their life in the First World War. Through maps, biographies, parish records, and personal stories, we aim to restore the humanity behind each name — to remind ourselves that every casualty was once a son, a brother, a farmhand, a teacher, a friend.
